About Nautical Landing

Article from 'Vacation News'

When the “water” called to Linda and Ron Grossman, they answered. The couple established Nautical Landing, an exotic store filled with both tropical and high sea attire, accessories, décor and novelty items, in Kansas City, MO. For three years, they experienced success with their business, however, they knew the Lake was where they needed to dock.

After opening Nautical Landing in 2005 at Stone Crest Mall, the Grossmans, along with their son, Andrew, have made Lake of the Ozarks their new port of “see.” Created by Linda Grossman, Nautical Landing’s goal has always been to bring “nautical” and “tropical” to landlocked coastal lovers. During the past few years, customers to their exotic, fun-filled oasis have found a variety of unique, intriguing and conversational items to decorate their Lake home, boat or house in their native land.

Even though the Grossmans do not offer life-size boats or boating supplies, they will ensure that Lake lovers will set sail or indulge in that luau in style. Everything from garden and pirate flags, and collectible seashells to boat barometers and tropical home décor awaits guests at Nautical Landing’s 4,000 square foot store.

“Even if they think they are not into nautical, if they are down at the Lake, they will find something they will like,” Linda said. “We literally have something for everyone.”

With items to meet every individual desire, customers tend to ignite the same feelings when entering Nautical Landing. Bright colors exude from the store’s window displays and the sounds of island calypso and steel drums entices guests to enter. A boat’s foghorn sounds from a motion-sensor statuette with the calls of seagulls to say, “Welcome.” For gift buyers, home decorators or simply browsers, the environment and friendly smiles from Linda, Ron and Andrew set shoppers at ease and allow them to explore for their special treasures.

With spicing up a Lake home or re-decorating a house, Nautical Landing carries a wide variety of décor. They provide more than seven matching bathroom accessory sets in tropical inspired, lighthouse, parrot and coastal themed outfits. An array of kitchen towel sets, wall clocks, shipwheels, ceiling fan pulls, sketched window artwork, lamps and wallpaper patterns are at customers’ fingertips, as well as mermaid figureheads, statuettes, welcome mats and more than 100 light switch covers.

Changing a bedroom’s setting can be tricky, but at Nautical Landing, the options for a tropical or nautical themed outfit are endless. They have full catalogues of exotic, fun furniture pieces, as well as a variety of wall murals, throws, pillows, comforter sets and even grass bed skirts.

“People like to decorate tropical, because they travel to places like the Caribbean or Hawaii and want items to help build a theme room at home,” Linda said. “We sell just as much tropical as we do nautical style.” However, the creativity doesn’t stop there. Nautical Landing carries an assortment of Tervis Tumbler themed glasses fit for any luau or tropical party. A favorite of Linda’s, Ron said the tumblers are simply all they use at home.

Nautical Landing has every pirate fare from figurines to flags for little and large buccaneers, as well as those wenches. Also, whether it’s for a garden, boat or deck, the store has an array of tropical and nautical flags and lawn accessories fit for the finest port. After discovering Nautical Landing’s many treasures, guests may also find a vast collection of tropical resort wear and the perfect fit for walking the beach with Pali Hawaiian sandals. So whether you’re decorating, looking for that perfect gift, or just need a party favor, Nautical Landing carries the décor, music or product to call every customer to the “water.”
